Ability to change or define location where Revit temp file stored

Ability to change or define location where Revit temp file stored

This request has been reported and logging an enhancement request on behalf of valuable customer.

We have users with SSD for C drive and these are smaller in capacity.

It is an issue as we are not able to clear any more space, and as the REVIT projects become more complex, more temp area are required when users work on multiple REVIT files.

We need to allow all temp space requirement by REVIT to be configurable, so that we can change the location when more space are required.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Revit just use the %TEMP% Environment Variable?

The location of that can be changed from the Windows Control Panel.

Hi @dplumb_BWBR,

That's true but what customer needed was to change the %Temp% location since Revit will occupying the space while working on Revit file. For your reference, customer has SSD and space is limited but they wanted to open 2 or 3 or more Revit model at the same time but these days models get bigger and bigger so that Revit occupies lots of space in C drive. That's why they wanted to change Temp folder location. I hope you understand. Thank you.

Totally agree. It would be better to be able to point the Revit temp files to a separate location from other Windows applications. That way you can automate clearing out the temp files on re-boot if desired without affecting other applications temp files. This modification was made to AutoCAD years ago.
