Two Vote Levels on Ideas Board(s)

Two Vote Levels on Ideas Board(s)

In the days of old, Autodesk did not have any Ideas forums.  AUGI used to run a Revit Wishlist board.  On that board, we could vote for various ideas same as we can today with one nuance...  We could rank our vote.  If memory serves, we could give our vote a 1-5 ranking.  One meaning, yes, this would be nice if it can be done, but not essential... Five was this is essential, please add this feature ASAP!

If Autodesk could even have a two level system, that would be great.  One button for "Yea, this would be nice if it could be implemented" and another button for "Why isn't this already a feature!  Please get added ASAP!"

There could be a point system behind the scenes or something.  "Must Have" is worth 3 points, Nice to Have" is worth 1 point...  something like that.

There are frequently ideas that I think would be a nice idea, but not essential, so I vote for them because it would be nice.  But as I do so, I frequently wonder, "Am I taking away from other more important ideas that should definitely be higher on the "to-do" list?

All current votes could be set to the lower level vote initially.  People that are enthusiastic about what their votes mean, could then get on their account and change their vote on those items that are most important to them.

For those that read the comments, I also have this idea out there to allow "voting" for the comments as well:

This is a fraught process, and your proposal will require all current topics to be revoting on from the start -- never going to happen with already 40,000+ ideas for Revit alone.

Instead, perhaps the 100 ideas most voted on during the last 12 or 18 months should be shortlisted, then put to a second round of votes by current users for review by Autodesk.

Either way, the current system allows for Autodesk staff to search for everything tagged with a given feature and see what rises to the top. Any refining of the process would have to include a way to group the most demanded features in some way.

Would work best if people had a limited number of "ASAP" votes, so you could vote for any number of ideas, but only really vote for your top 5 or 10. You would have to be able to withdraw and reassign top votes and ideally have to confirm them once a year to prevent a large number of old votes from people who have moved on resting on old, possibly redundant, ideas.

Currently Autodesk have 12,000 odd ideas and no real way to prioritise them that ties in with user requirements. This would help them sort out what to work on each year.
