Text Editor - Column Tool

Text Editor - Column Tool

I would like to see the "column" tool from the AutoCAD Mtext tool be added to the new text editor that came out in the 2017 release of Revit. The new functionality of the text editor in 2017 is leaps and bounds compared to the old one, this would be a nice addition for a future release...

I don't know if necessarily MTEXT's column feature (it's been a while since I used it), but at least a live columns, much like the current schedules are able to be split. And bonus points if it can be split to different sheets (same with schedules).

Dynamic and static columns with user definable height, width, and gutter, please!

Splitting up text like we can with schedules would be really helpful.

Pretty please with sugar on top 🙂

Flowing from one text box to another is really overdue, it is very painful to have to split long notes into different texts. If we then could have text linked in from Word or in worst case a non-formatted source.

I agree with @Anonymous, being able to split a large text box like you can a schedule would be a nice way to make this happen. It would be nice to be able to adjust each split piece of text's width independently, because I'm sure there will be scenarios where this would be handy.

Yes, please, to splitting text into columns. It's so time consuming to keep doing it manually.

Revit needs a feature for this. This is long overdue.

How long does the user community have to plead for a basic function like this..... Come on Autodesk - are you listening ????

Wow, you would be hoping that 3 years later and we would have this, but still waiting. Please add this Autodesk!!!!!

What if I enrol in C# 2 year course, apply for a developer job with Autodesk, code and implement a text editor for Revit, then serve a notice and go back to architecture to enjoy the multicolumn text which snaps to the grid!

I believe it will still be quicker than waiting for the current team to implement those simple features or even respond to this thread.

Yes. Another upvote here.

Very depressing that simple issues like this are not getting addressed. Revit is still in AutoCAD 1998 era on most annotation tools. It's 2022, and we can't link to a spreadsheet, can't align annotations, can't format text in a box, can't do columns of text, can't have consistent leader landings, BUT we have generative-design that must have took years to develop that maybe 3 people will ever use.

Using Auto CAD for some 20 odd years this was a huge disappointment, almost every other software I've used has columns in Mtext.

For the price we pay $$$$ they should have had this updated by now. In my opinion its just plain lazy programming by Autodesk.
