TLDR: Allow a space between one item in a list and the item below it.
Lists are a wonderful asset to the text editor. That said, here is one area which would make them better: giving an option to put a space between the bottom of one block of text in a list and the next item. In some areas where lists are long and the text block is wide, lists can become daunting to look at. Spaces between listed items would give visual relief and make it more clear where one item ends and the other begins. See the image below for examples from Microsoft Word.
This could be as simple as a Yes/No parameter (check-box) entitled something such as, "Break between list items." The height of the space would match the size of the text (e.g. 1/8" text would have 1/8" spaces; 3mm text would have 3mm spaces). When checked, a space would be provided between items, when unchecked such a space would not appear.
Without such an option, wherever I am told to put spaces between listed items, I manually create these spaces which takes effort to do correctly. For example, after writing item number 1 in a numbered list, I tap the Enter key twice, which provides two list items, numbers 2 and 3. I then move the cursor in front of number 2 and tap Backspace, which deletes the number but leaves the space. I repeat this process for each new item. In a long list this can be cumbersome. Such a checkbox as explained above would alleviate the monotony.
