Sort project parameters like family parameters

Sort project parameters like family parameters

Allow to change order or A-Z (Z-A) sorting for project parameters

Now it is complicated to fill non sorted user parameters

It is very irritating that one cannot sort these parameters alphabeticallyClassification Parameters.png

Has this been fixed in 2020 (i haven't used 2020 yet) ?  if no why the hell not Autodesk this was asked for in 2016 !!!

No @dmarchant , there's no change in 2020, at least none that I can find. 😞

Could the parameter arrangement for system families be added please? As Paul and the others mentioned it is quite laborious to find where the parameters are when ordered by creation.

If it is possible on loadable families why can't it be on the system families?

Even a hard alphabetical order would be better than it is, then we could choose parameter names to match, now it's just chaos.

After losing my whole day trying to understand the logic behind the shared parameters sorting, I finally got it.

Revit sorts them by ..................... their “IDs” .................. which directly corresponds to the chronological order in which the shared parameters are created in the project. However!!! If a parameter is deleted and created again, nothing happens and it takes its old order and place. That is because deleting shared parameter from Project Parameter UI does not do anything. This shared parameter remains in the project forever, it is just hidden from our sight (security reasons blah blah). When created again, it takes back its old “ID”, therefore goes to its old place.

Happily, if you have basic Dynamo skills, you can extract all shared parameters IDs and use the Select by ID tool to select them. After pressing “Delete” button, they are permanently deleted from the model and when imported into the project again, Revit gives them new “IDs” and sorts them in order of creation.

@Anonymous

Thanx for your explanation it seems to be plausible that it is driven by "IDs".

I would like to have a dynamic interface/ browser like the mighty PROJECT BROWSER.

Maybe you can force AUTODESK to do this cause the FORCE seems to be very strong in your family.

***May the force be with you

This is really irritating that we can't control this, and it's a waste of time to minimize stuff or scroll past it every day.

Please implement an "Move Up" and Move Down" button for this...

Project parameters are sorted in 2021, but they are not yet visible (the control should be able to be resized).

@PaulFrancoisStorm  Haven't project parameters always been sorted alphabetically in the project parameter dialog? I think this idea is about being able to control their order in the properties pallet.

Indeed @pieter4

This is all about the lack of being able to sort them in the Properties Palette, where they're actually being used and the order of things genuinely matters. 🙂

yes Properties Palette and the parameter headers in Type Properties.

My mistake: not yet fixed in 2021. 2020-04-22_20-00-38.png

I swear I was on a screen that allowed me to move parameters up and down as I pleased for a display order.

no Idea where I was or what I was doing when I ran into this, cannot find it again.

suggestion of this thread is only being able to sort parameters alphabetically, but I much prefer to be able to move all parameters up/down the list as I please.

@leilani.gnall-gregory

I think you were in the Family Editor. There parameters can be sorted, at least to some degree.

Yet another thing autodesk refuses to fix  (the list grows).... Hopefully the Twin Motion crew in Germany will come out with a better more usable BIM software and we can all switch.  Well all of us that want to do BIM projects andfor those who want to stay in the 2D autocad world can hang out here with autodesk.

🤔the Twin Motion crew?

Seems like a fairly basic feature that should be in the program.

@jimgoodmanYeah not only a basic feature, but a necessary one. Today's BIM world is all about part classifications, and filling out information in various fields.

Not being able to control the order of those fields, and worse yet that the actual order isn't even the same between projects, is detrimental and wasteful to the point of ridiculousness.

And here we are, 3 years later still no solution, to what is a trivial issue.
A function to reorder parameters really shouldn't take longer than a day or two of coding for one person.

Pleeease make it happen Autodesk.

Besides being ugly to have randomly organized parameters, it's very time consuming to import parameters from excel from another DB, when field sequence doesn't match.
