How do we provide feedback on the Roadmap card? I only see Nice to have, Important, or Critical. That does not allow for the correction of the request.
As pointed out by @pieter4 , the original request at the start of this thread was for "Allow to change order or A-Z (Z-A) sorting for project parameters" [emphasis mine], and the attached image clearly has the "move up or down" buttons highlighted. The roadmap skips over the first and the more important part. "Sort project parameters like family parameters".
The way Family parameters are able to be rearranged so that the most important parameters are at the top is ideal - we can guide the user to the order that values should be assigned. This same behaviour would be IMMENSELY helpful in the Project Parameters as well. THAT is what is being asked for. Just blithely sorting alphabetically is not nearly as helpful. Somewhat helpful, but not what is being requested.
@Ric_Weber ditto. I thought this was about alphabetically sorting parameters in the Project Information and Revit Properties browser. Something got lost during the road trip.
Actually no, it has not been implemented as requested. The word "Sort" in the subject line should have been "Rearrange", as the request is specifically asking for the ability to arrange parameters LIKE FAMILY PARAMETERS, highlighting the "Move up" and "Move down" buttons. This request was partially fulfilled, but remains open and waiting for the first (and arguably more important) part of the request.
Allow to change orderor A-Z (Z-A) sorting for project parameters
Thank you, @daniel_friesen_arcadis , we will change the Idea back to Accepted, however it is now possible to sort alphanumerically as the original idea suggested.
I have to agree with @daniel_friesen_arcadis , the request I voted for (manual sorting) has not been implemented. Maybe if the idea only mentioned 'alphabetical' sorting, this could be considered implemented, but as both the text and the image include clear references to manual sorting, I don't consider this implemented (unfortunately).
I think we have made progress, even if only in alphabetical order. I have been using REVIT for more than 10 years, and the lack of usability of the parameters is hell for a novice user. Many times I have been asked by clients and students why I can't change the order. That's the way it is. I answer that it's because it's Autodesk.
Yes, that's a huge step (even though it seems as a basic function that should be there from the beginning) and thanks for that, but again I also agree that solution for this specific request was not fulfilled as initial idea was different.
Hello every one. Dear Autodesk Team, thank you so much for project parameters alphabetical auto sorting.
No doubt, it is a huge step to Revit usability. Alphabetically order saves much time to finding looking for parameter needed. Now it was done for Project parameters. Level 1 of Parameter Magic achieved ))
In fact, placed component have 3 groups of parameters: - Revit internal parameters - Parameters, added in project - Parameters, added in family editor
In example I added in Family editor to Mechanical Equipment family user parameters, reverse ordered them (Z->A) see Picture
I loaded family component in project
I added to project user parameters in reverse order (first Y prefixed, then Q prefixed)
Please, watch result: parameters grouped in 3 groups: 1 Family parameters (no ordered alphabetically, ordered as in family) 2 Internal Revit parameters (no ordered, order is fixed) 3 Project parameters (Project parameters ordered alphabetically)
So, we still need to looking for parameter without alphabetically order, but one group of parameters now order as needed. Maybe, next step may be change order of groups (1 will be Internal, 2.1 Family parameters+2.2 Project parameters) and sort (Family parameters + Project parameters) as one group? I Agreed, than Revit internal properties are always on their places and huge number of customers would like to see them on their places, but custom properties (Family parameters + Project parameters) seems to me, need to be ordered together in spite of order in family editor, usually there is too much of them in Properties tab. That will be Level 2 of Parameter Magic
May be it could be useful to mark Family and Project parameters by font formatting like in Solibri marked Type and Instance parameters (normal font and italics font).
And Level 3 of Parameter Magic is @pieter4 request - manual sorting for individual customer view.
Send to Top, Send to Bottom Buttons for Parameter Management in Family Types window. Sometimes I have 40 or more parameters and I need to put a new parameter near the bottom of the list. I'd rather have a button that shoots it down to the bottom than spend time clicking the down button 30 times. OR! NEW IDEA! There should be button that you click that allows you to grab a parameter and drag it to the spot where the user wants it then they click the button again to lock down the order. Similar to reordering songs in a playlist.
^ tjuneau hit the nail on the head. Being able to modify the order of a family only to have that order adopt the project's order (which cannot be easily changed) is very frustrating. I wonder why this has gone on so long without being addressed. I'm curious if it has to do with shared parameters using their internal IDs to sort, or something like that
Yep, still waiting. I would very much like to manually sort parameters in the project. Most of time parameters that are important to each other are not Alphanumeric neighbors.
Apparent Power and Voltage Nominal are very interrelated but are far from one another.
