Project Phasing for Electrical Circuits and Panel Schedules

Project Phasing for Electrical Circuits and Panel Schedules

Within our MEP office, it seems one of the primary challenges we've had with the integration of Revit is the lack of electrical functionality when it comes to project phasing. Various components of this have been suggested over the years, but it seems like the ask could be simplified as follows:

  • Provide project phasing for electrical circuitry.
    • In the real world, circuits existing in a place and time like all other model geometry, so it doesn't make sense that they are handled like annotations/analytical calculations that exist only in the scope of work.
  • Allow for use of phase filters on electrical panel schedules.
    • This allows for a designer to display and existing and revised condition. This is typically displayed on every project that involves modifying the loads associated with a panel.

I am aware that there are work arounds using Excel or Drafting views, but this is definitely a hang up every time we train a new electrical drafter/designer.

This needs more votes! I can’t believe this doesn’t have more support. It would solve so many problems for the electrical community.

This has been an issue for years (a decade or more at this point); phasing within panel schedules will open up functionality that will simplify the design process and allow designers to better convey the actual project scope more accurately when dealing with projects with multiple phases (such as temporary power). Let's get some traction on this one!

Exactly - plus sometimes we need to show loads connected to an existing panel to be demolished, then that same load connected to a new panel. Or we need to relocate an existing panel (thus show it in an "existing" location on the demo plans, and in a "new" location on the new construction plans). Right now we cannot show it twice!

Phasing for panel schedules! it's super frustrating having to coordinate manually

I'm also supporting this

I support this as well!

Definitely.   And doing Core and Shell vs TI in Revit is really difficult too because of this and a couple of other reasons.

Yes this is a serious issue and I would add that equipment demolition needs to be coordinated with this feature. I think in its current state, if you set a panel to be demolished it will remove any connected circuits from it so its impossible to model temporary equipment in phase of the project.

This has my full support. It will definitely optimize the production.
