Placing a Component

When placing a component, it would be great if it was possible to search a family category like "Casework" and all families with casework in the name or the family category was set to casework would show up. I am working on renaming some standard families in a project template but this would be very useful so that it wasn't necessary to make sure that each family had the family category in its name.

Our office gets around this issue by prefixing families with the Category, and makes it much easier to find them amongst a couple of hundred families in a given project.

Unfortunately, this idea did not get the support of the community (votes or comments) over the last 24 months and as such we will not be pursuing it at this time. Please feel free to re-word (titles and clear descriptions are really important) and resubmit this Idea.

Rather than archiving this idea, I would have thought this to be considered 'implemented' by Autodesk's standards. @krzystoff We do a similar thing to our loadable families. For now, we added our company abbreviation to the beginning of the file name. While on a server, hard drive, Docs space etc. gets abbreviated to F22 to show that it is a revit 2022 family file. On loading it into a project, this will be renamed to FUL because it then takes on the project's revit version. I wonder whether this is similar to your _CD19, _CD18 endings. Putting it in the end simplifies changing the names after insertion, I imagine.
