I wish there was the ability to paint a rooms walls, ceiling, and floor by selecting the room family and modifying the parameters. Any further paint requirements could be overridden with the paint tool.
You can do this with Dynamo. The reason it probably shouldn't or couldn't be an OOTB feature is there are so many ways different firms/individuals would want this to function. What if you have a wainscot? What if you have an accent wall? Also, is this just text for scheduling purposes or are you wanting to add materials to the actual model?
I prefer not to use anything but OOTB nodes and if I have to, archi-lab. I have found otherwise they break too easy for people. Too many third party nodes and you spend a lot of time trying to troubleshoot the failures. Dynamo is supposed to have new features that find the latest missing nodes or versions but it still doesn't seem to install the correct version easily.
Either way, thanks for the suggestion. I will have to take a look and see that this doesn't require Python and the Revit API.
That's a fantastic suggestion! Having the ability to paint entire room families, including walls, ceilings, and floors, by simply selecting parameters would make design work far more efficient. In real-world projects, this concept can be a game-changer.
For example, during a recent home renovation in Singapore, the homeowner wanted the living room to have a cohesive look with warm earth tones across the walls and even matching accents on the ceiling beams. Planning everything together upfront made the transformation smoother and more visually appealing.
Tools that allow complete visualization, much like this feature idea, would be incredibly helpful. For anyone interested in practical examples of room transformations, check out Painting Services Singapore.
