Non-rectangular Scope Box

Non-rectangular Scope Box

We have non-rectangular crop regions.  Can we please have non-rectangular scope boxes so we don't have to copy/paste the non-rectangular crop region to 30 views.......

Purpose: To allow Revit users to make Scope boxes that allow editable shapes other than rectangles to help make L shape or other odd area breakdowns that are possible. The Feature is now available on callouts per Revit 2014 but lacking in Scope Boxes.

We rely heavily on scope boxes to setup views and would benefit with this added ability.

Thanks

Great idea! I've forwarded this onto the Revit product management team mentioning that it already got 7 votes!

Excellent idea and if we could add the ability to copy/ monitor this way the architect could set up the plan view by scope box which inturn can be sync'd acorss the whole team to ensure all drawings match

This is worth putting effort behind to get it to show up in future updates.

This should make it count for 36 more Kudos Smiley Happy I had an Enterprise Priority IdeaStation on this a while ago but not sure if it can be counted to boost the Kudos count.

The annotation limit box should also mirror the rectangular scope box. it currently ignores the rectangular crop region

I would like to see dimension and positional added to scope boxes.

Not sure if having a non-rectangular Annotation Crop (as mentioned by @SeanSpence) is also being evaluated as part of this idea, but if not, there's a separate idea:

Hi Cindy.wang or Autodesk

As this was forwarded to the production team around 22nd of may 2015, how far is it in progress?

It is heavily needed, any feedback would be appreciated.

Best regards

We've completed our review of this idea. After investigating the effort required to implement this request, we unable to add it to our roadmap at this time due to other priorities. However, we think this is a great idea so we will reconsider it as we made adjustments to our roadmap in the future. Thanks for the submission and keep voting!

Could we sketch scope boxes using polygons?

It would allow us to better manage level scopes, datum objects scopes and view croping...

On top of that we could pick the view orientation using one of the edges? (same way as with floors)

It would really improve our workflow!!!

Cheers and Happy new year,

François

I think it would be nice if Section Boxes updated live in 3D View as you drag the controls. Another great addition would if section boxes had an editable boundary (similar to crop regions) that could be edited to allow for round, L shape or other Section Boxes.

In any building that is not a perfect rectangle this would be invaluable, detailing in rooms that are shown on more than one zone wastes time as well as leads to confusion.

Dependant Views makes this somewhat manageable but it doesn't make it any less awful.

Some buildings just don't lend themselves to rectangular scope boxes.

I am currently working on a building that is shaped like an 'S'. There are not two parallel walls in the place and the rectangular scope boxes really don't work well at all.

In the certain case, we need to control the 3d view with a difference intermediate level. For example a parking. I would be interesting to have to control with a polygonal scope even section box.

It would be greate to create not just rectangular views but w/ complex shape, to make some cutouts or trapeze views, etc.

Can be done manually by combining few boxes, however its not so easy to set them properly2017-04-122017-04-12
