Instance Parameters can't be used in Type Parameter formulas

Instance Parameters can't be used in Type Parameter formulas

Occasionally we need to change a family from being predominantly Type parameter driven to Instance parameter driven.

Due to parameters being driven off each other you typically get a message like the one below;

It would be great if Revit could offer the option to cascade the change down all associated parameters rather than having to go through the process manually.

Cheers

I'm guessing folks just don't think about it at the time. It really would be a HUGE time saver when you are just building your family framework with formulas, then you start adjusting things to be more on the user friendly side of things and all hell breaks loose! Now you get to cut out ALL of your related formulas just to get the parameters adjusted correctly for instance/type, then you get to put the formulas all back in. Waste-o-Time!

Couple of things could help, like @Keith_Wilkinson mentioned in his original Idea post, having the change be able to cascade down to affected parameters would be good.

I also think the ability to select multiple parameters at once and change their Type/Instance property would be a useful addition. This bulk edit would help in this scenario (assuming that Revit doesn't try and do it one at a time an still throw the same error) but would also just be a handy addition to the Family Editor when working and adjusting your parameter types.

Another thought would be to just ignore the error per parameter and instead throw the error when you go to hit the OK or Apply button. It shouldn't happen right when you are editing one single parameter. We know we need to fix them all, but we don't even get a chance!!

This would be really powerful. Revit should, at least, let a family type parameter of "family type" of to be driven by instance parameters. Something has happened to the ideaboard forum, now it´s impossible to vote on ideas (al least on edge and chrome). When you click the "vote" button it gets the deep blue color fill, but never counts your vote.
