Improve IFC import - floors

Improve IFC import - floors

We often get model in IFC from our "road and various networks" partners ("VRD" in french, sorry for translation).

When we open their model in Revit (File - Open - IFC), every plateform that was designed in their tool, as soon as it's not totally flat, is interprated as an In-Place floor and not native floor.

In projects, almost all platforms are not flat. Consequences in Revit:

- We can't hide interior triangulation edges (see attached image) -> It looks horrible in plan view

- We can't annotate spot elevation/coordinates -> We can't check if the model is correctly linked

- We can't punctually modify floor shape or floor materials, if needed.

- We can't host our objects on In-Place floors.

We are Architects and site environment ("VRD" in french) is always modeled by Engineers without Revit - they use Covadis, Mensura, etc.

Its almost impossible to use IFC models we receive from them. When we Open IFC on Revit, as soon as they are not totally flat, platforms are converted into In-place components.

Consequences:

- We can't change their geometry

- We can't change their materials

- We can't hide/filter common/interior edge (floor subcategories)

- We can't host railings on in-place components

Conclusion : It's just impossible to create site plan views... and we always need to recreate our own Revit site file. Double modeling : that's not BIM !

Please find a solution for this issue.
