Be able to use Symbols (Annotation Symbols) as nested family in Elevation Views
Annotation Symbols are great to use in Plan, and work just fine in Views with of different scales keeping their printing size. Why can't we use them in the family Elevation and be able to rotate the element in the project and still see the Symbol?
Agreed. I posted the same Idea under the title "Trust your users" and it got deleted. It is really frustrating when the software dictates what we can and can't do as professionals.
What could possibly be the reason this is not allowed still. This seems to be a basic function that we shouldn't even have to request. It is ridiculous that we can put in annotations in family plan views but not elevations.
Also, the forum mediator should combine this idea with the first one referenced by @scbunker
This feature would be incredibly useful. Ability to nest generic annotations in elevations of families can eliminate the need for repetitive tags in elevation and section views. For example: every fixed glass panel in exterior doors and windows is typically labelled with "FG", or a similar note.
Using Model Text for this purpose is not possible, because all model text becomes unreadable whenever you need to mirror an Element, or a Revit Link Instance.
Using a hatch or a surface pattern applied to glass material is also not a working solution - some municipalities do not accept this in permit drawings, and require the glass type to be explicitly labelled with text.
I'm making some revit families for dishwashers, laundry machines, and some washroom components etc. I have an annotation label in plan to pre label these components per company standard, but I can't put the same label in an elevation in the families. For now, I'm stuck using model text and have visibility parameters to mirror the model text. This works until these families get put into a group and the group gets mirrored. If I could use the same annotation label I use in plan in the elevations, all would be solved.
This would be very helpful. My firm regularly uses ballistic windows, but we sometimes team with other firms who do not. We would like to insert the windows and it automatically be noted as ballistic. This would allow anyone to know which windows were ballistic, without having to hunt down the window type or relying on typed in text in a graphic window schedule.
I'm so looking forward to seeing this feature come to life. currently having to tag every single equipment on elevation is time consuming, for a healthcare project with thousands of equipment in one model.
Yes, please add this! A plan is a flat view of a 3D environment. An elevation is also a flat view of a 3D environment. Why can't text annotation in a model family work the same regardless of whether it's a plan view or an elevation view? We can add text annotation in plan views and elevation views in the project. Why can't this work within a family as well?
