The built in HVAC load analysis in Revit should consider the floors of the spaces for heat loss. In colder climates where temperatures (and design conditions) regularly get below zero, the floor can be a significant source of heat loss for a space with one or more exterior walls. As it stands right now, we're stuck with workarounds, rules of thumb, or using different software to factor in floor loads. This is a strange limitation for such a powerful software.
Seconded! It's incredible that they aren't being taken into account. I can't fathom it personally. I want someone at Autodesk to come back and tell us we're wrong and that the floors are taken into account if you just tick this on box. But alas, I don't think that's the case at all. Why oh why would we not want to include floors?! 😞 Literally holding onto licenses for IES VE because Revit doesn't take floors into account. Extremely disappointing and wasteful.
Hi @zach.brandt and @CFNBen - You are correct about this BUT ONLY in relation to the 'original' heating and cooling loads feature. Its one of a number of limitations in that tool/underlying method that led us to developing a significantly better solution which is essentially a replacement / major upgrade to the original which we now call 'systems analysis' (2020.1+). Check out the links below for more information. Amongst many other benefits this does account for floor heat losses, in fact, using EnergyPlus the whole building and system heat transfer is captured in an incomparably higher level of detail and rigor.

I must admit my company is in contact with you guys at Autodesk regarding this matter and I think when we find the time we will develop our workflow to include what you have mentioned but I am not up to speed at the moment.
