I enjoy working with design options, but it becomes extremely difficult and frustrating to add walls to a design option due to the error: “An insert in a design option cannot be hosted by an element in the main model.”
When expanding this error, the only option available is to delete the hosted elements, which is not a viable solution. In most cases, I have to cancel out of the dialog and spend a significant amount of time identifying and selecting all joined and hosted elements manually before attempting the operation again.
I can see how a “Select Hosted/Joined Elements” feature would be broadly useful in many workflows. Alternatively, I would like to suggest adding an option within the error dialog itself, such as an “Include hosted elements” button. This would allow users to proceed by automatically including all dependent elements, eliminating the need to exit the dialog and manually reselect everything.
