Fabrication Hanger Rod Attachment Offset

Fabrication Hanger Rod Attachment Offset

Fabrication hangers in Revit currently automatically connect to the nearest structural element, which is neat, but impractical. As it stands we cant actually use the fabrication hangers for rod length takeoffs to use for ordering pre-cut threaded rod because they are all too short. Hanger rods to not stop at the surface of the structure when built, they penetrate into the structure of the floor or slab or whatever. Right now we have no way to control the rod length after it snaps to the first structure above. I propose the idea to add an offset parameter or hanger extension parameter (the names not important) that will allow us to increase the length of the hanger by the value of said parameter. FAB hangers are already their own element type so I don't see why it would be too hard to add a parameter that functions like:

Rod length to structure (current length revit is calculating) + new offset parameter = total hanger rod length.

Regardless of how hangers are ordered/manufactured adding this will allow for more construction accurate BIM models at LOD400.

Thoughts?

Seems like an obvious deficiency that should have been built in at the start. Definitely agree with that.
