Enhance underlay

Enhance underlay

Underlay is a problematic tool which requires multiple command to operate correctly.
In my opinion 2 things to change :
- the slab projection  (up to 1.22m or 4 feet) which make the tool useless most of the time (I really don't understand this).

 - Add offsets (negative or positive) for the base level and the top level.

Thanks.

The whole underlay feature, with its byzantine view range requirements, is so full of counterintuitive gotchas that it's useless, and should be scrapped. If they would bother to listen to architects, at whom Revit is supposedly aimed, what we really need in an "underlay" feature is something that functions like a "snapshot:" if you have the 2nd level plan view open, and you underlay the 1st level plan, what you should see underneath is a grayed image of exactly what you'd see if you just opened the 1st level directly, no dorking around with view ranges necessary. And if they want to include an "underlay VG" command to control the visibility of underlay elements, so much the better.

@evansTSMR This is the way ArchiCad works, and it is amazing. You basically just get a superimposed view of whatever other view you choose, aligned to your current view, and it has options to colorize it so you can see it better. Excellent for coordinating stuff.

This is also possible to do with sheets in ArchiCAD, which is great because you can superimpose sheets in this same manner, so you can align stuff from one sheet to the next.

Completely agree, we need the full visibility graphics controls, ideally managed from its own view template or similar.
