We need a way to disallow automatic join of line-based families. Its ridiculous this isn't already an option, and instead people have to come up with work arounds to get what they want.
Yes please! It would also be nice if it was a toggle of some sort like that of Disallow or Allow Join on Walls. In some cases it is helpful to have the lines joined. Others it is not. Line Based Model Components allows join, whereas Detail Line-Based Components do not. It would be helpful to have the option for Model Based to not Join, and Detail Based to have the Option to Join.
This is a very needed feature. Revit keeps trying to be "helpful" and join line based families exactly when I often want one or both ends to extend a precise small amount to accurately reflect a product turning a corner or overlapping with an adjacent material.
Without the ability to disjoin the end and extend it the exact amount I need it to each family has to created with offsets at the end so the user can manually force the model to be accurate and simulate overlaps and mitered corners. It's frustrating as a family builder, frustrating as a family user and challenging for novice modelers to adjust the correct parameters since it isn't intuitive.
