unjoin line based family

When two line based family meet they automatically join.

I don't want them to join.

Can I switch of this automatic join, or can i unjoin afterwards ?

4 years ago there was already the same question in this forum, but there was no answer, only a workaround.

My conclusion: it was impossible in 2011.

Is it in Revit 2015 or 2016 possible to unjoin line based families ?

No, no disallow join for line based families (Revit 2016).

However you can have them real close together, if needed, as long as both lines are not in same plane.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Unjoin geometry is only for solid elements, not for detail items. If you want a gap, you need to make it, either in the family itself, or in the project.

It's not a detail family, It's an array of connection family, i.e. Stiffeners. A solid family.

oh, sorry, in that case, have you tried Unjoin Geometry?

You could also leave a gap in the start and end of the array, in the family.

I tried unjoin geometry, It doesn't work.

Only solution is to uncheck chain in option bar and if they get joined anyway, pin the others and move the one you want, then it'll prompt you to unjoin it from others.
