Designing to Brickwork Dimensions Constraint (Brick Co-Ordination)

Designing to Brickwork Dimensions Constraint (Brick Co-Ordination)

I'm requesting a new feature for Revit that adds a brick co-ordination constraint. This would simplify designing with masonry and ensure accuracy.

Problem: Manually aligning walls, windows, and doors to brick courses is time-consuming and prone to errors.

Solution:

  1. Customizable Brick Dimensions: Users could define the size of a single brick and mortar joint. For example, the standard UK brick is 215mm x 65mm with a 10mm mortar joint, creating a coordinated size of 225mm x 75mm. This feature should be fully customizable to adapt to different international standards.

  2. Automatic Snapping: Walls and openings (doors, windows) would automatically snap to this brick grid, both horizontally and vertically. This would ensure perfect alignment with brick courses from the start, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.

Benefits:

  • Saves time by removing manual calculations.

  • Increases accuracy in construction drawings.

  • Ensures proper alignment and a better-looking final design.

This feature would be a valuable addition for anyone working with masonry construction globally.
