copy legend

Hi,

please let us copy legends. It is so **** anyoing. I know and understand that i cant have the same legend on one sheet but i dont want to paste the legend on the same sheet again. I want to paste the legend on another view at the same spot. Its a shame that i cant align legends or views on a sheet. I know there is the guide grid but you are not able to just pick the outline from one view and align another view to it. But i post that idea in another thread.

So back to topic. Let us copy/past legends like we can do it with shedules.

I stand corrected. The roadmap shows copy legends across sheets, not across projects.

Although with in the thread https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/copy-legend/idi-p/6355988 someone did ask for copy across projects. Autodesk just ingnored that suggestion and is going to implement across sheets only.

Yes, they ignore many things. Alternatively, lag of quality insurance I´m not sure.

I do try to search for topics before posting an idea, but sometimes the title in an idea does not describe what the idea is about. In addition, I do not have time to read the entire idea site to make sure nobody think the same as me.

However, Autodesk can combine one's ideas and thereby close one if there are similarities

I am unable to select the legend from the project browser nor am I able to use Insert View from File. 

With our efforts to keep both our project template and all current projects up to date, I would find it greatly helpful to access legend views across multiple model files. 

If this limitation is the case and I am not missing something … then I suggest that your programming team might consider addressing this (more complete) functionality.

Not sure if this helps, but here is my work around

1. Go into the legend and copy the elements individually.

2. Create a blank legend in the model I am copying to.

3. Paste the elements in the blank legend.

I agree that adding Legends to the list of options in Insert Views from File is important.  It must be a big challenge to implement or it would have been done.  Recently I created a cover sheet with a Materials Key and Symbols Key.  It makes sense (to me) that these are Legend views.  When I discovered they cannot be brought into other projects, I had to convert them to Drafting Views, which doesn't seem like a good workflow.

It also added that the revit file did not have to be open to be able to make the transfer, that it was enough to select the file from which we want to extract the information

It's possible to copy and paste (between projects) component based legends which might be useful? However I know its not often that you'll have components in your legend for colours/materials/textures etc.. Plus you have to use dumb text for these legends which makes them less desirable.. But it might come in handy in some situations!
