Content Catalog add-in only work in US region

Content Catalog add-in only work in US region

In Revit 2025 and 2026, the “Content Catalog – Launch as App” and “Launch in Browser” options are effectively useless unless you have an active US hub with the Content Catalog enabled.

ThierryMonteyneSBE_0-1769761489892.png

Other regions, for example, the EU, are not supported by this add‑in, which makes these buttons non-functional. The only reliable way to access the Content Catalog is to open it manually in your preferred web browser.

Please avoid assuming that the US region is the only region that matters.

And also make that information cross regions.

The project information may be reagional sensitive, but the company standards are not!

I do not want to have to recreate contente, templates and other standards in very region out there.

I also want to be able to bridge projects between regions that are not region sentivive. Make it possible, please.

@ThierryMonteyneSBE, I don't know this for a fact, but I wonder if this is actually the same thing that plagues the US extension in 2025 and 2026...  If you don't already have some project open in Revit, it will not launch CC from the extension.  But if you open a file, any Revit file, first, then use the extension to either Launch as App or Launch in Browser, then it works.

Again, not being in the EU market, I cannot test this, but I can tell you that here in the US, it seems like it isn't working, but if you start a new blank project, and then launch CC from the insert button, it works.  You don't even have to save the project.

I have reported this issue and they are working on it, but in the meantime, this is still an issue.  But in the EU or other markets, it may be that it just doesn't work at all, which is a definite issue I feel.  Thank you for bringing this up.

@Ric_Weber , @ThierryMonteyneSBE ,

I will check to see if they are working on the other areas and if this Idea should be marked as Accepted. Thank you for your Idea submission!

Actually @Ric_Weber, you may be able to try some testing...

My company is in the US HUB, and just recently we discovered that we can create a new hub in the EU region.

I will do that to use the bridge tool with projects that are in the EU because of the other designers.

Problem is, project templates and, I guess, other ACC standards can't be copied/sincronized between hubs (maybe even between 2 US HUBs, I don't know... never tried (and to be honest, I don't have time to bother the administrator of my company to experiment).

If you do have time and curiosity, do try and let us know.

I have not tried nor I'm interested in the parameter manager and content manager in ACC - I think it gives us no control what so ever and has potential to be too unstable and unreliable - so no thank you Autodesk... Sadly.

Do you have the latest extension installed? Content Catalog Help | Revit Extension Release Notes | Autodesk
From the release notes:

  • Content Catalog detects your Revit Cloud Model’s region and opens in the appropriate location, providing a smoother and more seamless content experience.
  • For local models, Content Catalog now offers a manual region selection option, giving you more control over where your content is sourced.

Hi @SethHall

Thanks for reminding this to me.

I just ran some test with 2 versions of the addin (and Revit 2025).

Both running a project from US and and a project from EU region.

  • v1.1.4 allows be pick a region followed by the needed hub to select the CC I want
  • v1.3.10 only .com is addressed (no possibility to switch between region)
  • v1.3.12 the .eu project opens the EU CC, and the .com project opens the US CC

Our company has both US and EU, where the EU contains most internal project, CC, Parameter Service ... (it's a matter of maintaining only hub for standardization). However some partners, and some clients have only one, which was not problem (except for Bridge ;). This means my people sometimes work on multiple hubs, but only having 1 CC to pick from.

For now, the only solid solution is the separate web browser, which in my opinion is still the fastest way (it's like starting Revit and CC at the same time, having CC to be ready long before Revit has completed it's startup), OR

In Revit, if you still want to go the Insert Ribbon > Content Catalog, having the ability to choose from a CC on a specific region.

ThierryMonteyneSBE_0-1769791382103.png

Could the community live with the fact that the Insert ribbon does not exist anymore in Revit?

I know these are mixed workflows, but it happens more often than we think, especially with the other region recently available. I may be lucky to provide two content catalogs (one on EU and US,) but this is double-source-of-truth. Not every company has this ability, and be honest this is not the way to go. This morning I happened to be on a project on the US hub, my colleague was on EU projects but on v1.3.10. Now I'm sure it still does not work as expected.

I hope someone confirms my findings.

Hi @ThierryMonteyneSBE

Reading through your comment, are there a couple requests in your response?

1. Cross hub content management (on roadmap)
2. Change UI to be able select any hub/region you have access to

@SethHall after installing the most recent version of Content Catalog the button for Content Catalog disappeared entirely from Revit 2025. Do you know about this?

Hi @curtisridenour sorry to hear you are experiencing issues after installing the Revit extension. I have not experienced this, nor have I seen any reports come in to the team describing a similar issue. Just so I understand your issue, the Content Catalog button is completely missing from the Revit ribbon? Any other buttons or functionality missing?

Yes it was missing and all the functionality was gone. We did a full uninstall and reinstall of the CC. The button returned. My assumption is that the uninstall was not fully accomplished the first time.

Sorry you ran into issues, but glad to hear you were able to get back up and running!
