BIM 360 Document Management Communicator

BIM 360 Document Management Communicator

With BIM 360 Document Management, there is no way to see who is currently working in the model like with BIM 360 Team (C4R) and Communicator. If there was a way to incorporate Communicator or to add something new to BIM 360 Document Management to coordinate synchronizations within models, it would drastically improve workflows within the updated Revit systems.

In the new 2019 Revit, the Communicator for C4R has been eliminated. It was a great tool. It keeps my users from syncing blind and allows me to see who's in the model, when they are syncing, and if they had any trouble syncing in the past. The IM part was good too. Work Sharing Monitor does not work with C4R projects. I know it didn't always work perfectly, but why on earth remove a function that added value? I vote to bring it back!

We just set up our first project in BIM 360 Design and several users discovered this too. What the heck? How stupid to remove something that is so important to our users without a sufficient replacement? How are my users supposed to know who is in the model, who is syncing, etc. UNREAL.

it was removed due to SOC2 security requirements.  The public road map indicates they are working on a solution

Wow, pretty bad. Thanks for the reply. Any chance you could post this public road map? I'm unfamiliar with it.

Thanks for the post, I think it should be back too!

Hope it will make it for 2020...

Would like to see the Revit communicator brought back.  This was a very useful tool and with the Cloud Collaboration it is needed even more.

Manage Cloud Models from the Collaborate tab will at least tell who else is currently busy in your project. Takes a while to open if you have many projects though. Maybe a 'manage this project' button would be helpful?
