When drawing beams using the beam system it would be very helpful to have the option to add perimeter beams to the beam system. Currently (as show in the images below) a default beam system does not add beams to the sides even when the settings are set to 'fixed number' and set-out from beginning or end. On large timber projects this can lead to a substantial discrepancy in the quantities, as for each bay two beams can go missing.
Having the option to automatically "force" beams to the perimeter would solve this issue it will help setting out and quantifying elements drawn using the beam system. There are workaround to use the beam direction line and calculate the exact spacing, but these are labour intense and completely miss the whole benefit of the beam system family.
One way of making this a "quick fix" would be by having the edges automatically found as the sides, and a beam will be added to one or both sides. This would work well for rectangular sketches.
Perhaps a better solution would be to have a tick box in the beam-system sketch mode, where you can select a line to be set as a beam, and thus adding a beam to the edges when you want. (As illustrated below)
This allows better flexibility for complex sketch modes. This option would also be very useful when trimming out openings in the beam system.
Thank you for considering my request.
