Autodesk Civils 3D has had country kits for several years now. This adds additional functionality to those users in specific countries (ie UK and Ireland) and sets industry standards out of the box.
In Autodesk Revit, we don't have any country-specific toolsets or templates to use or follow. As Revit has evolved over the years and regular updates and enhancements are included the standard out the box templates remain the same each year.
Creating a standard company template can be an extremely long and tedious task to create, taking many months to do to ensure everyone applies the same standard across projects. As many companies do but it does appear this differs from organisation to organisation. Some companies just use out the box templates which does not apply and standards at all. As you can consider there is no consistency across all users.
As it is recommended that a new template is created each time you start a new project in the newer version. So users will need to recreate the template from scratch or copy previous template setups to the new template. Again another long task to do, although they could use Dynamo to assist with this.
Today in the UK many projects requirements state country or international standards to be applied to the project. Which require all those working needs to ensure these are applied. I have listed some of these things below.
As you can imagine the list could be endless but having a
So to implement discipline-specific and aligned to industry standards and best practices so something where Autodesk can help support our industry.
Just think of the time saving and getting projects aligned to industry standards. It is endless.
Maybe the next step after this we could get some good out the box families to work with and make sure the 3rd parties who create them for manufactures build them correctly and to industry standards.
