Auto-Spell Check

Auto-Spell Check

Revit should underline, with a red squiggly line, misspelled words. Instead of having to click “Check Spelling” in each view.

As a dyslexic this would be great idea.

Add Dutch to it and more. Word has that for many years.

Spell-check should also allow checking inside groups and across the project, not merely the current view or sheet.

Ask the fine folks that produce Microsoft Word how they were able to overcome this programming juggernaut decades ago.

Take a look at this new tool on Revit Store:

123 Search

It does not do real-time spell check, but at least it is a significant enhancement of Revit’s spell check.

Check the videos, it can do other cool things too.

Allow grammarly software to work with it.

A much smaller (but still helpful) step could/would be; a BACK button in the spell-check dialogue when you run it.

If you're clicking next/next/next quick scanning acronyms; and click it once too often when a new misspelled word comes up; you have to start all over, or make a mental note of it and come back for a second pass to get it.

*And being able to check more than just the VERY VERY limited subset of text would be stellar!!! (Still resort to exporting to Autocad to run spell check when something important goes out, because they cant seem/care to get it to work in its sister-product). Too much to hope for, but ….

To reorganize and consolidate our Revit Ideas for ease of use to both our customers and our product teams, we are no longer using the "Future Consideration" status for Revit Ideas. All Revit Ideas are always under review, and consolidating posts (and Kudos!) will give weight to topics previously spread across many posts. We are continuing to evaluate where this request falls into our roadmap and will provide an update when we have made a decision.

Thank you for your contribution!

Is this function still not updated in Revit 2021?

Can we have an automatic; dynamic real-time spell check system in Revit 2022?

Just as Microsoft Word does.

It would also be really nice to have a feature in Revit that when you're typing a formula a closing bracket is automatically added when you type an opening bracket, just like in visual studio.

However, this would have to be something that runs constantly in the background as I understand it correctly, that wouldn't be ideal. Maybe it could be implemented that such a spelling check runs whenever the user is done editing a text or label.

It is 2021, and automatic spell check with right clicking is standard in nearly every other program.  Revit is far behind the curve on this, and allowing external spell checkers to integrate would be the ideal solution.

I can't believe that in 2021 Revit only has the most basic word processing capabilities.  Autocad has had a robust text editor for the last decade at least.  The following basic formatting is not posable in revit.....

Spell check Should check all view names and titles, as well as sheet titles for spelling errors.

Not just text boxes!!

Does this feature exist yet in 2023 (dynamic spell check with squiggly red line underneath misspelled words)?

Please add this feature.
