Allow us to assign a hotkey to the "Switch Windows"-Button

I love the "Switch-Windows"-Button as it allows me to easily juggle between the different views of multiple open projects. It's great that it does show both the project name AND the title of the planview!
As I use it really frequently I'd love to assign a hotkey to quickly open the window-selection-popup

Sadly this is currently not possible, even though it would be very convenient to stay in the flow of work (instead of having to navigate to the button in the ribbon) and to save time.

Ideally the window-selection-popup would open in the center of the screen for quick selection-purposes.

My request is, in parts, similar to this one: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/quot-sw-quot-switch-windows-hotkey-eliminate-quot-more-op...

I really hope to see this implemented! Greetings from Germany, Michael

I was going to vote on this. But this is already an basic function on a computer. Revit does not need to add a hot key for this. I regularly have 10 or more open views in Revit all you have to do is hold the CTRL key down and hit Tab and you will cycle through your open views. Make sure Revit is the active program when doing.

So lets say you are creating and sending and email in outlook. Then you go back to Revit make sure to left click or middle click on the view window empty space. Revit is not active program. Now if you use CTRL + Tab you will cycle...

@dchampion_vader Thank you for letting me know about this feature!
However this does, in my opinion, not replace the feature I requested as I prefer to directly "jump" to a specific view instead of cycling through all open views.
This is already possible in Revit using the "switch windows button" which has the added benefit of showing me both the name of the view and the name of the project.

This is very important to me as we use the same "view-names" across all of our projects, therefore I really "need" to make sure I'm looking at the correct project 🙂

I just think it would be awesome if Revit allowed us to assign a hotkey to this function (button) that is already there in the interface but can currently only be accessed with a mouse click. (I prefer keyboard shortcuts in my every day use).

You are correct. I misunderstood original post. I agree having the ability to assign a hotkey to "switch windows button"

would be very helpful. I also use that a lot. Although my workflow does not have me in multiple projects at the same time. But will have multiple views open. If I want to go to a specific view, I use. However 99% of the time I just use the CTRL Tab as it is faster for me. But that is due to you being correct and not having a hot key for the switch views button..

No problem! I do quite appreciate the cycle feature - started using it in my work today 🙂
The interesting thing to me is that Revit already allows us to set hotkeys for many functions that also have a button, but for some reason not all "button-functions" can be set to a hotkey... I wonder if there is a reason for that (a little) random behaviour 🤔

Anyways since I often have multiple projects and views open at the same time I'll keep my fingers crossed for a future implementation of this feature request!
P.S.: I'd also love to see a "Command-Line" where I can search for and trigger funtions by keywords in the future, but that's for another feature request 🙂
