Allow Perspective 3D Views to Display a Scale in the Viewport Title

Currently, perspective 3D views do not allow a conventional view scale (such as 1:50, 1:100, etc.) to be displayed in the viewport title. This can be inconvenient when documenting perspective/isometric views on sheets, especially when the view is intended to represent a specific graphical scale.

It would be very useful if Revit allowed users to display the scale used for a perspective 3D view in the viewport title, even if the scale is treated as a reference or annotation value rather than a true drawing scale.

For example:

ISOMETRIC VIEW
Scale: 1:50

Perspective views have vanishing lines and don't have a functional scale. You're describing orthographic views.

 

Even then, an orthographic scale would need to visually depict the three axis for orientation.

You can do this independently with a modelled family that functions as graphic scale, it just wouldn't live in the View Title.

While it is a good idea to tell beholders of a perspective which level of detail it is showing, using a scale, which a perspective obviously cannot have, by showing the scale of the model it is based upon, misleading. I would probably put that nugget of information into the actual view name like 'Perspective based on construction documentation' or 'P of preliminary design'. Mentioning whether it is coarse, medium or fine might also be an idea.

 

Sorry, I did not open the image attached to the idea and was misled by the word 'perspective'. Yes, isometric view may show a proper scale - I really thought they did. I am uncertain whether revit really produces isometric views that will hold up to local drawing regulations as to 30° off to horizontal lines and true (measurable) height in verticals. As isometrics are usually eye-balled in revit, rotating it slightly to get a proper dimetric (ie. 30° and 60°), may prove difficult. What about other 'traditional' projections like cavalier 'perspective' which is basically an elevation with the perpendicular sides going off at a 45° angle?
