Ability to change more than one selected value in a schedule

Ability to change more than one selected value in a schedule

Right now in schedules there is the possibility to change only one single value at a time, but very often we have the same elements which receive a new value for a parameter. It would be helpful if we could change this value for all of them at once and not need to highlight them in the model and then change the parameter value in the model.

I'd like to be able to select multiple rows in schedules i.e. as you would be able to in excel to avoid repetative entries.

I posted something similar. I mentioned multiple selections in general. In many areas of Revit mulitple selections will be useful, not only schedules.

Imagin you need to change a value in a parameter for 64 of 100 rooms and they all need to be the same.

How would you like to do it?

Mark all Rooms in the schedule and change the parameter for all selected rooms at the same time or do you want to do it like...

press enter

this can be done using sort & group or select them in view then edit the parameter in property panel

It would be useful if you could select several cells and then type the new value and have them all update. The pop-up about change to type affecting many instances would need to be rationalised, e.g. only shown once.

If I select multiple cells I can go to another view and modify the element parameters there.  Why cant I select multiple cells and change their values in the schedule directly?  Seems like a big productivity enhancement.  This is a large reason some are still trying to export schedules to excel.

Hello rsawall,

Elements in Revit needs to match  their parameters with others elements if you want to change all of them. You have to create your schedule and organize your data in Sorting/Grouping section.

1_Sort by: Type

2_Blank Line: It keeps a space between groups sorted

3_Itemize every instance: Enable the whole group sorted

4_ You would see a Schedule similar like this; In this example the parameter "Description" is part of every Column. you could modify data only once per Type element

I understand working schedules and you're right, its not hard to do. However the point is why have to format data in order to modify it? The amount of extra views directly affects model performance. I would not put this high on the priority list but seems it would be easy enough to implement.

Has anybody solved this problem ????

@f.petrovici use a free add on to do it. You'll have to export to excel, use "replace all" function or do whatever changes you wish and re-import. It's really simple though, it' takes 5 seconds to export and import.
