Ability to change more than one selected value in a schedule

Ability to change more than one selected value in a schedule

Right now in schedules there is the possibility to change only one single value at a time, but very often we have the same elements which receive a new value for a parameter. It would be helpful if we could change this value for all of them at once and not need to highlight them in the model and then change the parameter value in the model.

Has anybody solved this problem ????

@f.petrovici use a free add on to do it. You'll have to export to excel, use "replace all" function or do whatever changes you wish and re-import. It's really simple though, it' takes 5 seconds to export and import.

Schedules are quite awkward in general for manual entry although they seem to have improved slightly from how they were. I'm still left wondering why when you press tab in the last column it doesn't move onto the first column of the next line. You are marooned on a single line having to invoke either the mouse to lift you elsewhere or press return for same column on next line. In general I'd say spend five hours learning how to populate it with Dynamo and then never have to spend more than two minutes on manual entry ever again.

On the Filter Tab set the Filter by: to a schedule parameter that is common for families you want to change. On the Sorting/Grouping Tab: Uncheck the Itemize Every Instance The filter and the unchecked Itemize Instance should reduce the rows in your schedule and allow you to change multiply items at a time.

I know this. Too many clicks in case of 4-5 lines and very, very
counter-intuitive to explain it to others.

If any of you are looking for a quick working solution on this, I would recommend using RF tools (http://www.rushforthprojects.com/Revit_To_Excel_and_Shared_Parameters_Tools_Download.html). It is a Revit Add-in that lets you export schedules to excel, manipulate it in excel quickly, then throw all that data back into revit. I use revit schedules for most of my work but usually manipulate rows of data with RF tools. It's a great software!

If needed we export a schedule to Excel, make the changes and re-import it. DiRoots has a good Excel-To-Revit tool you can use for free. Okay, if one needs to change only a few entries in a schedule it's a bit an overkill to go the Excel way ...

It would be nice to be able to do this for adjacent rows AND non-adjacent rows. For non-adjacent rows, it would be great to reproduce the "Ctrl click" and "Ctrl + enter" functionality like in Excel.

This would be so helpful. Yes, there are methods to doing this, but it is not intuitive for most users and adds unnecessary steps to what seems a simple operation. I find myself constantly re-teaching my team how to do this with current limitations.

There are many ways this can be solved. Fx with Dynamo, plugins with Excel integration and data management systems like AjourCollab

its been 5 years autodesk seriously? this isnt a hard thing to implement a lot of third party add ins have this already....

Simply sort the schedule using that value, unitemize rows so all rows with the same value collapsed into one, then change it once for all.

@ToanDN The problem is when you want to change the value for 3 of the 6 that have the same value... the "Highlight in Model" workaround would be good, in that case, if available (can't be used for Sheets, etc.).

For sheets, you can select multiple sheets from the browser, not from the schedule, and change the parameter value.  But I know what you mean.

its not a question if there is a workaround or not. the function does not existing it is clearly possible via current configuration and has been for years.  when the current way to do in revit is to put it mildly very ineffcient.

this shouldnt still be an issue 5 years later
