I need to add a shared parameter to my elevation and section tags.

How do I do this?

hi, just to follow up with my answer, if you're saying that you need to shared parameters ( elevation & sections (your model) to other model then it's possible. open the other model link your model and go to manage > coordinates > acquire coordinates > pick other model and move your model to the same position of the other model and save and close. next time if you want to link the other model to your model use "by shared coordinates". i hope i'm right? hope it helps. thanks.

Hi, thanks for responding.

I have attached a shot of my company's title block design, and a few other things for some explanation on this...

In order to achieve the title block design, I had to create a shared parameter "sheet letter" in our template file for this to work.  I have added it to our title block family, our sheet index shcedule and our project browser for clear organization.

My problem is: our elevation, section and detail tags refer to sheet number only.  This is bad because in our sets we will have an A2.1, S2.1, E2.1, ect. I need the the elevation, section and detail tags to know what the "sheet letter" is as well as the sheet number.

I know it is not possible to add a shared parameter into these tags....but there is always a workaround.  I need to figure out the workaround that will still make the tags automatically fill out...

What do you think?

Add a letter prefix to the Sheet Number Label.  If you have differrent Sheet Letters then you need to create a differrent family with different prefix for each.

That would work except my prefix is a different text size than the number.

Does the prefix need to be bigger on the elevation tags?

No, just on the title block.

Thanks!

Then how does that matter to you elevation tag, which is what you had asked for initially?

Let me clarify - what I meant on last post was that I just need to letter big on the title block.

I DO need the letter on elevation tag, but it can be the same size as the sheet number.

Is there a way to put a prefix on the sheet number label in the title block family and hide it in the project and keep the big letter visible?

Did you already have a shared parameter for the sheet letter? That and the tag prefix have no linking relationship so you need to have multiple tag families with different prefixes to imitate the different sheet letters.

Yes I have a shared param for the sheet letter which I have added to my project browser, sheet index schedule, title block.  I have one last relationship to figure out - elevation tags.  I understand it is seperate and has no relationship to the sheet number.

Adding the prefix to the sheet number label within my title block family makes it appear on the title block in the project.  That will not work for me - it would read like the picture...

I think I need to either:

1.  add my shared parameter to the elevation tag?

or

2. Hide the prefix in sheet number label so it appears in elevation tags but not on my title block?

or

3. Come up with another solution??

I think you have misunderstood my method all along. I have suggested aadding prefix to your elevation tags, not sheet title block.
