How to modify a wall?

In the image below I want to insert wood blocking at the top of a wall.

But I have been unable to remove the plywood that is there.

How can I do this?

Thank you for your help.

In that same Edit Assembly window, look in the lower right corner.  You will see sweeps and reveals command.  You can use the sweep command and place it at the top of the wall.  Use the offset value within the profile to adjust how deep it cuts into the wall.
