AutoCAD to Revit (Witout ALL of AutoCAD lines)

Hi everyone!

Im currently imporitng an AutoCAD file to Revit 2014, and by doing this I have also imported the 100+ lines that my team have created on the detail. These NEW revit files have so much data that are making all of the file HUGE!

Is there a way to make my detail only have a few line, and or if they ARE already set as Revit files...Can I have all of their lines just set as one or even four? Instead of having 100+ lines.

Thanks  a lot!

Welcome to the community!

Each "line" is a layer in the AutoCAD file that you are importing.  Use fewer layers in the AutoCAD file, and purge out all unused layers before you import or link the AutoCAD file.

In AutoCAD create new layer say "z" select all lines change the layers of all lines to "z", then import/link in Revit.

First thing i would do is recommend you LINK CAD rather than IMPORT CAD, importing a CAD file is always going to bloat your Revit file, Linking a CAd file will not add much file size at all to your Revit file.

And it would just be a matter of cleaning up your CAD file inside AutoCAD or w/e 2D package you use. Open the CAD file up, delete the unwanted stuff (text, tables, etc.) and do as Suresh mentioned and place everything on the 1 layer. Re-save the CAD file with a new name (so you don't override the original) and then LINK it into your Revit project file.

Hope this helps
