Adding content center structural shapes - Bill of materials

Anonymous
Not applicable

Good day,

I'm going to add extra structural shapes in Inventor for work.

As a test I started with a simple iPart, created a square tube with parameters length, width, height and thickness.

After that I added about 50 different profiles in excel, published the shape with the structural shape publisher.

Then I created an assembly using a configuration of the new family I added, even that works perfectly.

Where I bumb into a problem is the part list. In the column length, the part list shows the height of the profile, instead of the length.

See screencast for reference, it should show 2x 500mm and 2x 200mm but shows 2x 20mm, 1x 20mm and 1x 20mm for some reason.

I hope someone can fix this for me.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sjors

I need to be able to take a look in the Content center Library table.

You wrote that you published the ipart to Content center, right?

So these definitions need to be visible to be able to help you.

I need to see i.e. where and how the parameter length is mapped to.

This is an example form Content Center:

Content Center parameter.JPG

Does this make it clear for you?

if not please let me know.

Also if you are not knowing how to do this.

Regards,

Arthur Knoors

As I said, everythign works fine, but the parameter length wont show up in the BOM as length

In bill of materials, G_L is set to length

Length G_L is the driven length generated in a frame member

so I have no idea why the part list wont show the correct length

I publish in a custom library which publishes to vault.

However, publishing a structural shape to the content center doesnt create a content center file in vault.

I could send alot of iparts which I published in the content center, but this is not the case for structural shapes as far as I know

But then I know that you don't use desktop Cc.
Please do the following.
Go to you projects explorer

And create a desktop Cc from the custom library.

And you are able to share this.

Arthur Knoors

I think you don't understand me right.

Cc is s table.
I need to be able to take a look into that table.

You understand?

for example if you publish a I-part file to CC then there is a table created. Not more and not less.

With this table files are only then created when they are first used.

For me the I-part selves says nothing about why it is not shown in the Bom correctly, because there is a translation publishing it to CC.

Cc are no iparts actually!

Please let me know is you are willing to try this and if you are able to do this.

if not ask your System admin or Cadmanager to help you.

No,

I need the table.

These tables are *.idcl files.

I need to investigate the table formats in Inventor.
