When beginning an ordinate dimension, can we just pick a line or point and start there as the zero point? Currently you must 1st: select view, 2nd select origin, 3rd select model geometry, 4th right click, 5th select "continue". Just like many other inventor features, its very cumbersome. One click on the desired line or point should do all 5 steps instinctively.   It would also be great if "ordinate" and "ordinate set" tools where combined. lets keep the dimension values aligned but also able to edit them individually, i.e. precision, color etc. Show More

There are plenty of free and robust office packages that support an open source format as well as excel. Both OpenOffice and LibreOffice are used in many professional environments. Even if you want it in Excel format at least allow us to do it as a separate file that can be imported and exported. Show More

To improve performance of large sketches in parts and drawings when performing a modelling or hatch command, use the AutoCAD method of selecting lines for the operation  (eg Extrude or hatch).   Inventor tries to pre check for all valid regions before any region can be selected.  If the sketch is large this this is very slow and even worse of part of it is not visible on the screen or there is no boundary outside the region being selected to limit inventor's search for sketch geometry.   It also uses an extremely small amount of CPU while searching the regions (eg 0.1% is typical for me today) Show More

Currently, when the Inventor Studio environment is active, the user can switch to the View tab, but the ability to change the Lighting Style is disabled. This is annoying because when I'm setting up a render I need to quickly switch (and see the difference) between lighting styles. Currently, the user must exit Studio and then re-enter it once the lighting style is changed. I propose that the lighting style be quickly modifiable, either from the Studio environment itself or (preferably) by enabling that function on the View tab. Show More
