Future Consideration Inventor Project Window  is too small, cannot be resized larger. Folder names and file names that are more descriptive and helps searching. These long paths are not fully displayed in the Project Window. It would be incredibly useful to be able to group items in an ipart. For instance if I was creating multiple types of pipe, tubing, spiral lock pipe, or fabricated pipe, I could list these as parent items in the ipart tree with all of their sizes as children under their group heading (parent heading). When I mirror multiple times in sketch mode, the mirror command seems to "remember" the mirror line. This is handy if I'm mirroring lots of entities across the ONE mirror line, but NOT if i'm using different mirror lines. So each time I want to change the mirror line, I have to press the Mirror command again, even though it is already selected. I noticed the other constraints don't have this problem (I can make a point coincident on a line, and then perform the same operation on a completing different line without having to repress the Coincident command), so I'm assuming it's either intended to be only used for one mirror line or it's a bug. Either why, it would be good to make the behaviour amongst the constraints operations consistent (i.e no memory effects) Show More

When detailing an active assembly, I want the annontations that are attached, such as bubbles and symbols to keep their head in place, and move only the arrow and leader line.  We have to take much time to align bubbles (make a quick fix for that too!), and text and weld symbols, but then when we modify the assembly, and nudge parts around, the bubbles move with the arrows, causing a mess to clean up.  I would prefer the bubbles stay put, and only the arrows move.   jvj Show More

We have a situation where we have lots of raw materials used by designers.  These are not just materials like in the libraries, but specific raw materials like 0.25x0.375in CRS Bar.  For downstream systems, we require parts made from a particular raw material to also have other properties filled out.  Right now, we have to maintain separate files for each raw material.  This could also be useful for other custom iPart   I would be useful if we could use table driven files for templates.  They could be accessible through the standard create new dialog, but the user would select the file, select the appropriate member, then Inventor would create it and break the link with the factory file.   This would allow administrators to manage many template files very conveniently. I often used linked parameters stored in an Excel spreadsheet. But to use these values when annotating text in a drawing, I have to first give my Model parameters (dimensions d34, d35, etc.) a new name of say (handle_diameter), before I can then find and use that parameter in my drawings. There is no way I can accurately identify say d34 as the handle diameter. It would be good to add a 3rd option under the Source combo box when Formatting Text, called 'Excel Parameters'. This would automatically fill the parameter combo box next to it with all the parameters in my Excel spreadsheet and prevent the requirement of renaming all my useful Model parameters into something remotely indentifiable, which becomes very tedious. I propose there should be a menu command when right-clicking a view called Rename, which allows you to edit the name of the selected view.It's not intuitive to think of double-clicking the node to rename it. Also, to rename a view other than the one activated, I have to first activate it, then rename it. It would be quicker to be able to rename a view which isn't currently activated.   Maybe when a view is first created, the node name could be highlighted ready for editing its name too. This would be handy.   This along with the removal of the weird behaviour in the tree view whereby it shifts to the top every time a new view is activated, would speed things up a bit. Show More

Have the Design Doctor dialog box display the drawing sheet where a problem is located. Currently if the active drawing sheet does not contain an error, the Design Doctor dialog box does not display a problem. The user has to activate each drawing sheet, run the Design Doctor again until they find the drawing sheet with the problem.   Show More

The precision in the Annotated Text dialog box which pop ups when entering text onto an ANSI drawing is in METRIC, not IMPERIAL. The rest of the drawing can Dimension with varying precision (via the Precision combo box which lists 0, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8/, 1/16, 1/32, etc.in the Dimension style), so why not when annotating text? Maybe include the Format combo box too, identical to the one in the Linear group box under the Units tab in Dimension style, which would allow the user to decided between fractional and decimal precision.    The present setup seems inconsistent to me. When solid bodies are generated from a pattern feature (i.e. Rectangular, Circular, Mirror) within a part with the New Solid toggle turned on, each and every solid body has a node in the associated Solid Bodies tree. It would be good to have the generatED solid bodies appear as SUB-bodies beneath the genartING solid body. This would allow me to turn and off a whole pattern at a time by simply selecting the "Master" solid body and clicking on Visibility. It would also organise the Solid Bodies tree view into a sort of hierarchy, especially useful when I only name the MASTER solid bodies anyway. Show More
