With large assemblies the new parts will be added to the bottom of the browser. Personally I like using the origins as much as possible for my constrains. If the list of parts gets to large the origins "dissapear" from the browser and you need to scroll to the top to use the origins. It would be usefull if you had the options to keep the origin within view no matter how many parts you have in your assembly. Show More

Please can you add the ability to change the model state in an IPN file. Currently it is greyed out and cannot be changed. This is a major headache when working with an IAM file that has multiple model states. For example, when creating a copy of an existing IPN file, the newly copied IPN file will not allow changing of the model state, which is sometimes required. Only the design view can be changed via the scene, representations... settings within the IPN.     Additionally, why can an IPN not have its referenced assembly changed in a similar way that a DWG / IDW can have its referenced IAM or IPT changed? I know of the assembly file re-naming workaround but this is clunky and time consuming, plus loaded with danger if you are a novice user and accidently delete / overwrite another file. Show More

What we really need is the ability to display virtually any property field in the assembly browser.   I recently changed jobs where they NUMBERS their part files (we used to NAME them). Looking down the browser at a bunch of [meaningless?] numbers is a lot less useful than seeing a part description. There is a part in my field (high vacuum) that looks virtually identical but there are 3 different sizes. Looking at a part numbered file name does not allow me to verify it's the right one until I make an assembly drawing with a parts list (or look at BOM). It shouldn't be this laborious.  Keep in mind that parts lists show a part number (typically) and not the file name. The file name is basically invisible to non-Inventor users and should cater to the user's needs. I'm going to be asking new employer if we can add some descriptive information to the file name.   This is similar to an issue I've brought up before where in the initial Inventor installation, they should ask "do you number your files or name them?" Because we used to name them, we always had to change the part number field because it defaulted to the file name. In my IPN, a sub-assembly has been moved to create an exploded view. Later I had to exchange some parts in that sub-assembly. Now, in my IPN, the new parts are visible (although the visibility of the superior sub-assembly is "off"), and they are at their old position. That doesn´t make any sense to me and fixing this can be difficult. Please correct that behavior! Show More

I have a model that has a number of assemblies to it. Each assembly has a separate BOM and while I can align the BOM to the drawing border, I cannot align the BOMs to one-another. Whenever  the model is modified such that the BOM size changes, I have to go in and manually realign the BOMs. I can't just snap them or align them so they respond to changes. Is this something already in the works? If not, I would like to see it in future Inventor releases.   Thank you! Show More

Occasionally I find myself in a situation where I'm halfway through dimensioning a drawing, and then realise I've used the wrong dimension style for the situation. What I would like is that when you change the dimension style, a dialogue appears that asks 'update all existing dimensions? Y/N'. If you answer 'yes', then every dimension currently placed in the drawing updates to the newly selected style. If 'no', then behaviour carries on as it does now. Show More

I would be surprised if this hasn't been requested yet but I am looking for the ability to constrain sketch geometry to sketch geometry from another sketch similar to constraining sketch geometry to an edge where the geometry is auto projected for you. Currently, if you want to constrain your sketch geometry to a previous sketch you would have to first project the sketch geometry from the previous sketch and then constrain your current sketch geometry to the project sketch geometry. This is many extra clicks. It would be much more efficient to be able to activate your constrain command such a collinear constraint and when you click on the sketch geometry from a previous sketch the software would automatically project that sketch geometry to your new sketch and the constraint would be placed. Would there be a way to make the OldVersion folder a hidden folder by default? This would eliminate the huge amount of "garbage" folders that Inventor creates in every single folder.  ->    Or another option, let us specify in the ipj a single location for the OldVersions folder, so that we can gather all those files in one location (and clean it up in one go)   Also while you're at it, when I specify in the ipj not to keep any old versions, why does Inventor still creates the folder?
