A current limitation within InfraWorks is the inability to easily share model assets. I categorize model assets as all the dataset used to create a model such as the vector files, raster files, 3d models and other files. Once a model is built and you share the model with other users either via a central network location or the InfraWorks 360 cloud, the other users cannot easily manipulate the model without these original assets. They must be manually copied to a net location and relinked before they can be utilized.   Therefore, I suggest a function be added which would act as an Asset Manger and File Collection Tool. The Asset Management feature would be a dialog window showing a list of all the externally linked assets, what file type they are, what they are linked to in the IW model and where they are located. This dialog could also be used to reconnect broken links, exchange one file type for another and finally display such statistics such as file size and date. The Asset Manager would also be able to search for missing or modified assets. The File Collection Tool would provide the user the ability to "collect" all the existing linked assets into one centralized location for redistribution top network or cloud users. Show More

When creating a storyboard with a date/time animation, it would be great to add a caption showing the elapsed date and time. Currently, we can only add text. I would presume this would be an attribute/field exposed to the caption tool.   On that note, it would be an added benefit to access fields in captions for road names, trafffic volumes, etc. for basic information all the way thru analysis information. It would be interesting in InfraWorks when assigning the model's coordinate system to also have a column of the EPSG codes in the table. The EPSG codes facilitate BIM and GIS integration workflows, as they are unique for each system. This makes it easier to identify the coordinate system when importing or exporting files. The custom grading should also save to assembly libray as well not just the components (or there maybe a separated library for grading). Also when i reimport data source of imported alignments the custom grading is wipe out and i have to readjust grading one more time for each data source changments. I was disappointed to realize that the ArcGIS button in Infraworks was only able to link to the ArcGIS database instead of letting me open and link-in an existing ArcGIS project from my server. If these Autodesk software are supposed to be super compatible, this seems like an obvious connection to be made that would help save time instead of having to re-compile data from scratch in Infraworks when a perfectly organized ArcGIS project exists.      For context: I have a ArcGIS project that has hundreds of shape files compiled and grouped nicely that I downloaded originally from Open Toronto. As both FormIt and Infraworks are marketed on the strength of their conceptual design functionality, I would like to see better interoperability between the file formats allowing each to import/export or link natively while conserving the relative coordinate systems.   Formit is well suited to the urban planning and architectural requirements of studying gross building areas as well as volumetric and material intentions.   This conceptual design plateform would then transition to Revit, 3dsMax and Civil3d to do the heavy lifting of the design development phases.     Show More

Would be really great to be able to export the alignement ( Designed road) to XML with a single buttom. Having to transfer the file into C3d Eachtime and playing with name is time consuming. I sometime draw 2-3 fast sketches road options that I have to send to different designer for advanced design and all they usually want is a simple XML of the alignement. Show More

I would like a built in title block option added to the design presentation toolset. Currently there is a watermark and it can work if you fight things a bit. We need a Lot Grade component similar to the LotGrade subassembly in Civil 3D. When I add a costumer mail-address to the "Add user to group" I noticed that the costumer sometimes get the mail, and sometimes not. And I have no tool to inform me if the invitation are successfully sent or not. I have to ask the costumer manually if they revived it or not, and try again if they did not. Just a simple mail confirmation to me, or better a; "Send now" button would make a huge difference.   Show More
