When using the pattern function if the operation needs regenerated the Red X is not visible if the pattern is collapsed. This is also true for the "pending" regeneration message. When I have large machining setups I cannot easily tell when it is complete with the whole setup. Show More

Hi All   In the world of Wirecutting everything is very out of date, old school, over complex and booring!   It would be nice if we could get EDM wirecutting in HSM/Fusion360... I actually think they could get 'a lot' of customers or visibility out in the cam world if it was a smart and simple wirecut software, think how simple wirecutting is? why not implement! (I know there are specific challenges to this, it's not THAT easy, but still) if it was made smart and simple (which it can and should be) then they would blow the competition away...   EDM wirecut is needed to make HSM the full package 🙂 thanks for voting!     Show More

All three products are tightly integrated into their respective CAD system's user interface. But the only way it interacts with the model is through the geometry itself... it would be hugely powerful if we could use the parameters which drive the geometry in some of the toolpath definitions... or even just leverage the CAD parameter system as a single location to change the value of a whole bunch of toolpaths and their expressions in one place... as in change one CAD parameter and have it change a whole bunch of toolpaths.   There are a number of examples... pattern qty... for when the current CAM pattern options don't get the job done. Drill & Tap tool definitions being tied to hole parameters (this could be potentially bad... but then so is the current system.. it could also be freaking awesome in a configuration scenario). Or a way to create your own parameters to drive toolpaths... like in the example below for undercut chamfers... instead of hard coded values (1 & 0.5), we could enter a CAD parameter, and changing it in one place would update it in many.       There are also huge opportunities then to script a whole bunch of things using iLogic in Inventor for use with Inventor HSM... or via Scripting inside Fusion 360.  Show More

I see in Fusion 360, there seems to be an option when creating a second setup when selecting stock there's an option for "From preceding setup": I don't see this as an option for HSM: Having that option for second (or more) operations would be quite a time saver, especially for job shops that do lots of one-offs. I understand it can be done in Fusion, but the nature of some work doesn't allow things to be in the cloud.    Show More

Hello,    Hope you are finding this post in good health and wellness.    Fusion 360 has been getting some nice upgrades lately. InventorCam has been consistent with what it has, but hasn't improve nearly at the rate Fusion 360's cam has.    Currently I am bottle necked at 4 axis, and 4+1 machining. It would be REALLY NICE if autodesk would release a InventorCam machining extension that plugs directly into inventor, and isn't cloud based.  Thanks Joe.  PS, I know fusion has it, but Fusion is not an option for us to use. I would really like some 4 axis toolpaths for roughing and finishing a part with just  XZA moves:   This has the following advantages Gives you the ability to rough cilindrical parts without the need of a lathe Machining faster then indexed 3D roughing on cilindrical parts   It could be something like this.     I know that HSMWorks has something like this in the form of 4axis sub, but it does not support 360deg rotations and the current toolpath wrapping in Inventor HSM is only wrapped 2D.   Please let me know if you like this idea. An Idea I've had for a long time now, and I think many other. Why can't have the ease of use of both feature based and model based CAM systems. Feature-based makes drilling holes and machining pockets easy. Even when you want to do Centering, drilling, chamfering, tapping, or want a pocket roughed, floor finished, sidewall finished easily. Because you can just select the feature for all the different operations and thus make programming easy.   Why can't we just have one operation that has the geometry selections in it and refer other operations to that one. That way you could have a template M12 tapping, Which has Centering Operation-Drilling Operation-Tapping operation. The Centering Operation has the geometry selected(Holes), the Drilling and Tapping Operation point towards the Centering operation for their geometry.   That means that for this very very simple part we now have to do 15 geometry selections. (With multiple clicks each) But with the new method, you would only need to do this 3 times. And is parametric, so it stays linked when you change the main selections. Makes it very convenient for users that have often changing designs.   UI wise I'm thinking like this:   Part is attached as well. Show More

It would be a great time saver if we had a 'Preserve order' on engraving on text, lines, or artwork.    For instance, if you have many lines of text and don't orient the text a certain way, the toolpath goes from line to line rather than completing one line at a time even if those lines are 12" apart.  This generates a great deal of wasted motion and time, not to mention wear and tear on equipment.  Even on a single line the order chosen for toolpath doesn't make sense.  There are workarounds but they shouldn't be necessary.   I've attached a screencast for an example.   Thanks!
