Why can't I create threads on the neck of the bottle (on the outside)? Thanks.

You'll have to upload the model, Right click the component and select export and save as an f3d file. The only idea I have is the surface is a loft and not a true cylinder.

It is a loft. I will change it to an actual cylinder. Thank you for your response.

Just a note on lofts, a loft between 2 circles will form a cylinder you can add a thread to but if one end of the loft is not quite circular the loft will not make a cylinder.

Looking at your model you might want to make the thread bigger than the cylinder you have, something like this.

Make a revolve to add some material for the thread.

Then add the thread to the revolve.
