RESOLVED - Fusion 360 Outage

All - We are experiencing outages that are impacting all data access interactions.  These include but not limited to Open, Save, Upload, Export and Viewing.  We are working actively to correct the problem and will update the Health Dashboard once we have an ETA and once it's been resolved.  I'd suggest working Offline until we have the issue resolved.  Really appreciate your patience!

UPDATE 4:45pm PST - We're getting ready to remove the banner and take users online.  Fusion 360 should automatically return online within the next 20mins, but you can also (save first) and restart Fusion 360 which should take you online manually.  Due to the massive amount of information being transferred as we ramp back up, please tread lightly (i.e. no immediate massive data uploads if possible).

Thanks again for everyone's patience, the Autodesk team appreciates the support and will continue to monitor closely over the next few hours!

I really questioned the wisdom of a "Cloud" based CAD/CAM program for this very reason.

But what can you do! Developers think it's great (for some odd reason).

I can wait this time, I bet lots of folks out there will be experiencing some pain though.

A host of (related?) issues:

Last few weeks, Fusion frequently reports update failure following update in progress announcement at launch.

At the moment, selecting "work off line" does nothing- at all.

File in date panel aren't just greyed out- those that aren't are marked by perpetually spinning loading wheels.

Fusion (erroneously) reports to have been operated off line for more than 2 weeks.

Find attached a screen grab of the error message and  the webdeploy streamer log file.

Breaking News  !!!!

Russians have hacked Autodesks cloud servers.  Wikileaks founder says he has absolute proof that Carl used unsecured cloud servers for Fusion 360 data files.  All developers are running around bumping into each other in a total meltdown of the programming team.  No casualties as of this moment but we will keep you posted.

Actually, it's Amazon cloud servers. http://kxan.com/2017/02/28/issue-with-amazon-servers-causing-worldwide-internet-outages/

P.S. I did not do that. Smiley Happy

Hey @mavigogun - I want to make sure we look into these after we come out of the outage (these are mostly unrelated to the current issue).  Do you mind sending a note into support.fusion360@autodesk.com with your attachments and description so we can help you directly?

Brian,

I'd suggest working Offline until we have the issue resolved.

Leaving aside that that isn't working now, working offline implies that there are local copies of our files.

I searched my computer and got no results; the only .f3d files that are found are ones I downloaded.

So how is working offline possible?

This is the first time I have gone through this outage.  Really not sure why they had to do this in the middle of business hours??  Hopefully there is not a bigger problem and this only upgrades, but we can't do anything right now.  I sure am glad that we didn't have some big deadline and feel sorry for those of who do.  We are using the A360 Hub and work with other firms on the Hub.

Brian mentioned working offline but I cannot even get into our Revit model because we work from A360 Collaboration for Revit to save it the desktop.  Is there any else someone can think of.

Caches the files in a hidden folder perhaps...?

I've personally thought the same thing from day one, why wouldn't the primary saving function not be defaulted to local.... and cloud based to secondary

and why wouldn't you just be prompted at save, if you wanted to save locally or on the cloud... maybe it all goes beyond my understanding, or just old 😉

Is there a way to import external files while offline?  There should be...

Another wrinkle I noticed with offline mode, I can start a new drawing, but I'm not able to select one of my drawing templates. When I select my Templates folder, the dialog just says "...PLEASE WAIT...", but never shows the templates in that folder. I can open my templates from the Data Panel, so I know they're cached locally.

I don't think there is if you are using the A360 Collaboration for Revit Cloud service.  I cannot even get into our model.

Outages are gonna happen. If you want something more stable then fork out the money for a seat of Inventor Pro. For the price you pay for Fusion 360, sometimes it's even free, I think I can handle a few outages every once in a while. Especially since I set the cache time a lot higher than default. And Fusion isn't that old. It normally takes a while for a piece of software like Fusion to have all the bugs worked out. And in the mean time it's free for a lot of people. Sorry just my opinion. - Jacob S.

@Anonymous - I checked with a colleague on the C4R side and unfortunately there aren't many options for you until our services come back online.

I'm having similar problems to mavigogun. Work Offline does nothing on Mac and PC. Some files that I've recently worked on are suck with a perpetually spinning load wheel. Other files that I've worked on, that should be cached, are greyed out.

The estimated repair time was an hour ago. Any new estimate as to when this will be fixed?

Hey @Anonymous - appreciate the support.  This issue in particular is a pretty unique one due to the reliance on Amazon Web Services, but I do think we have some additional learnings from this outage as far as the offline transition (stuck on splash screen, delayed load of data panel, etc) that we need to address.

Simple answer: you can import f3d, sat and step files. You will not be able to import f3z. If you want to open a design directly into an empty canvas, you can go to the file menu and select "open design from file", find the design you want to open, and that should work too.

that would explain why I can not access my work I saved at school yesterday.

Exactly... and Autodesk currently have no plan to deal with that situation. To do so, or at least have a chance of your data being there on another device, they would need to write a sync client for Fusion 360, that syncs pinned for offline storage data even when Fusion isn't in use on another device, but it is online.
