I know there is a tool in the Autodesk Labs for porting a Revit file to CAMduct. I can't review this tool because we do not have Revit, yet the continued development of this tool is contigent upon feedback from users of this tool. The lack of a (permanent) straight-line path from Revit to production (CAMduct) has prevented us from taking Revit seriously for now. If we were to develop our models in Revit, then have to port these Revit models back through AutoCAD just to be able to create an ".maj" file for production (CAMduct), then Revit fails to be a "step forward" and actually would be more of a "step backward" since the model has to be recreated as an AutoCAD dwg file. This makes for extra work, and it's hard enough staying competitive as it is. Until we get a firm commitment from Autodesk that Revit to ".maj" (CAMduct) is to be developed as a permanent feature, then we will be left with continuing to request that the designers and engineers export their Revit models to dwg format for us lowly AutoCAD users.   I know a third party is developing tools for this, but to have to resort to a third party just to achieve interoperability between Autodesk products, only succeeds at further inflating our overhead.   Another option would be the ability to import 3D Revit models into AutoCAD. This would take some of the load off the A/E side, since they would not have to be "bothered" to export the Revit model to dwg. We have yet to encounter a project that specifically required deliverables in Revit format, and hopefully we won't anytime soon. At least until we have a solid workflow from Revit to CAM. Show More

In CAMduct, when you are using "Quick Takeoff" to enter in fittings, and you have "Individual Quantities" selected under the "Takeoff" menu. This lets you takeoff identical items, as separate line items, by entering a number within the "Qty" field.   This feature could be improved if there was an option to keep the same item number (instead of incrementing the number for every additional qty). The parts are obviously identical, and most users prefer that the same piece of duct retains the same item number. This would save time, since you would not have to use the "Duplicate Items" option, or  run a particular script to fix this issue. The more that can be correct at the "Quick Takeoff" level, the more accurate the end result will be.   Solution:    In the attached picture you will notice I proposed this change be located under the "Takeoff" Menu.   Another solution:   Have a check-box next to the "Qty" field under the "Quick Takeoff" menu, that would toggle this setting on and off.   Thank you for your consideration, see attached picture for details.   Nick Show More
