If you are using the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform to host your project, you can section a 3D model by overlaying a 2D sheet on it. The 3D model could be in any format and the sheet could be a Revit sheet or just a PDF file.
Here is the procedure for overlaying a published Revit sheet on a Revit model:
1. Log on to your ACC project.
2. Click on the Product Picker from the top left and then click Docs.
3. From the left navigation, click Files and go to the folder where the 3D model is located.
4. Click on the 3D model to open it. The following figure shows a Revit model opened.
5. From the left navigation bar, click Sheets & Views, labeled as 1 below.
6. Click 2D labeled as 2 above to access the 2D sheets published with the Revit model.
7. Turn on the visibility of any of the sheets using the icon labeled as 3 above.
8. Use the arrow key labeled as 4 above to move the section plane.
You can also use this process to overlay PDF files on other format files, such as Navisworks, IFC, and so on.
The following image shows selecting a PDF file to overlay on a Navisworks model.
