Have you ever been in a drawing and wanted to know what the drawing location is?  There are 3 ways you can quickly access this location in AutoCAD.

  1. Type DWGPREFIX at the command prompt and you will get the path in the command area.

The path will be placed below in the command window.  You could easily paste it into windows explorer to get  to the correct folder on your network.1-dwgprefix.jpg
  2. Type Options or Config at the command prompt to open up the options dialog box. On the  Open and Save tab check the Display full path as shown below in the image below. The drawing path will now be displayed in the windows bar about your AutoCAD session.02-Options.jpg
  1. Right-click on the file tab and select Open File Location. This is my personal favorite, when I show people many say “I did not know you could do that”

If you are using the Sheet Set Manager what I tell my team when they set up

the Sheet Set is to move to the Model Space tab and add your folder location. Once this is done you will have quick

access to the entire folder structure within the Sheet Set Manager.
