Revit - Color of the Year Revit Model Integration

Sherwin Williams is known for their commitment to excellence in colors for the AEC industry and other industries.  Each year they showcase a particular color as their "Color of the Year."  In this blog, you will learn the steps to include these colors into your Revit model.  I have attached a Revit model for your use.  Please note that you may need to remap the image samples to the materials for proper realistic visual style representation.

Steps to use SW COTY in your Revit model:

1.  Look up the color you want (i.e., COTY 2022 is SW 9130 Evergreen Fog)

2.  Write down the RGB color for use in the model as well as capture a sampling of the color using SnagIt or SnipIt Tool

3.  Open your model and create a new material from the default paint material

4.  Rename it and change all the properties you need within the Material Dialog Box.  Specifically, the Identity Tab, Graphics Tab, and the Appearance Tab.  Remember to click OK several times to finish the creation of the material.

5.  Apply the material to the Revit model objects however you want.

Below are images of how the material was applied to a wall:

Lastly, make sure you keep a good record of your material image files so that they can be remapped when necessary.  Have fun painting...!!!
