Grips bug with Map 3D 2018

Hi,

With AutoCAD Map 3D 2018 FR, a new bug has appears. It concern the grips use with several objects.

I post you a video to show the bug with an arc, but there is also some (different) problems with polylines (context menu does not appears after the first change), multi-lines, splines, and perhaps some other objects.

This problem does'nt exist with Map 3D 2017 FR and also not with AutoCAD 2018 FR.

I don't know if other language versions of Map 3D 2018 have the default.

I hope it will be solved ASAP.

Cheers.

Thierry

Jestes
Check your GRIPOBJLIMIT. If it's a small number, set it to about 32,000.
It may help.

Nice suggestion, but it has no effect on the bug.

I was replying to jestes who had just described another grips bug. I had both bugs but the variable change that I posted solved the one that matched what he described.

The add vertex etc bug is not solved by that.

This issue is also occurring in custom point objects (see attached image)

Has there been any movement on a resolve yet?

Just ran into this same issue with a client. They are having this issue yet I am not, even when working on the exact same file. After several troubleshooting ideas, the only difference I see is the install method we used. They did the Download Now option from their Subscription site and I chose the Browser Download option. We are going to uninstall C3D 2018 and try the install from the Browser Download next week. Will let you guys know the results.

I used the Brewer download, still have the issue.

You have something different with your PC then what we have, could be a number of items that make the difference.

Just how you decide to download the same file from the same servers will not change the issues we are seeing.

More then likely it has something to do with a version of Window's "insert filename here" and something with the new Autodesk product are not playing well together.

Autodesk needs to fix this, I am sure that they are a where of it by now.

Yes, Autodesk is aware of the issue.  On page 1 of this thread  @Thomas_Stuehle replied to the post.  It has been escalated to the programming department.

Hello,

Good news - I would like to forward the hotfix for the described issue.

It is attached at the article "Grip issue with editing polylines and arcs in Map and Civil 2018" in the Autodesk Knowledge Network.

Please mark the comment as a solution if it solved the issue  also on your side.

Best regards,

Thomas

Just a question, is anyone else (after installing fix) seen some strange things with the program? Such as grips taking longer to respond to a command; waiting on the program to just respond to a command, etc.

I work on extremely large grading files and you know windows is always making updates so this is most likely just my PC, but I thought that I would ask if anyone else is seeing some strange things after the update.

Thanks

Hi,

selection of objects with many vertices is always a bit slower if the property window shows all properties.

E.g. for a polyline the property window shows length and area, both values which can need a lot of time if you select polyline(s) with large number of vertices.

You can speed up that selection if

  • you close the property window and only open it if you need it
  • you keep the property window open, but close some groups in the property window ... for properties which need long time for calculation. For a polyline you can minimize the group "Geometry"

...and ... the next selection is faster than before 😉

Thank you for that tip it is a very good tip to know, however I already knew about that setting and it is not what I am asking in my original post.

I asked if anyone else is seeing "Strange" or "Slower" responses from the program after the install of the "Fix", it is more then likely a windows issue on my PC then it is the program itself; I would just like to be sure that is all.

But good of you to post that helpful hint, I am sure someone will learn something from it, its just not what I am talking about is all, sorry.

Short answer: no, I have not seen any differences to before installing the hotfix.

I am getting slower response in general while working when the "Show annotation objects" is turned on. I don't know how to turn it off by default, so turning it off manually for each drawing. It does affect my workflow, and speed up things. My PC is an i7-4790K, 16 gigs of RAM, 850Pro SSD, but not a GPU (only integrated one), maybe a GPU would benefit overall responsiveness.

@Anonymous, did the solution that @Thomas_Stuehle provide (message 30 above) not work for you?
