Copy/Paste is faulty

Hey,
In both AutoCAD 2023 & 2024 on macOS Version 14.1.1 on Intel, the copy/paste function is faulty:
cmd+c produces the command "_copyclip 1 found". If the copied element is one vertical or horizontal line, cmd+p sometimes allows me to paste the line. If the line is diagonal or multiple lines are copied, cmd+p makes me paste a mtext with a link like this: "/tmp/A$C04f3e5b2.DWG".

I experienced this problem in version 2024, downloaded 2023, and got the same issue.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @tilemanhenry_kuhl

>>>>>cmd+p sometimes allows me to paste

Cmd+P shortcut is fro PLOT command, but not for PASTECLIP.

>>>>>>cmd+p makes me paste a mtext with a link like this: "/tmp/A$C04f3e5b2.DWG".

OK, let's' assume that you use cmd+v shortcut. Where is mouse cursor at the time when you are trying to PASTECLIP?

Is it inside drawing area?

Can you share screencast (video) of what happens?

Nothing wrong with your file in 2023 nor 2024, so that's good.

Why not type the commands out instead of using the shortcuts to find out where the fault actually lies.
and confirm your MacOS version please

Dear @maxim_k and @pendean, thank you for your replies. Please excuse my mistake... I, of course, mean cmd+v, NOT cmd+p.

Dear @pendean,

Here is my attempt when writing the command out.

The Product Version is T.114.M.24, and it is AutoCAD 2023.2

Thank you.

@tilemanhenry_kuhl ,

From the screencast I see that you are using context menu for copy/paste.

What happens if you use Cmd+V shortcut from the keyboard?

Do you have the same result?

Using cmd+v was meant to be the initial problem description (instead of cmd+p). So yes, it results in the same issue.

What if you select "Paste as block" from the context menu?

"Paste to original coordinates"?

The only one idea I have is to try to Reset AutoCAD.

Thank you for your Tip. Pasting as Block does not help.

@tilemanhenry_kuhl ,

When you use COPYCLIP command, AutoCAD writes the objects you select to a temporary DWG file inside /tmp folder on your Mac. When you use PASTECLIP command, AutoCAD should read the contents of this temporary DWG and put it to the drawing.

I think that there could be something with AutoCAD preferences, they could be corrupted for some reason. In this case Resetting should help.

Another thing (maybe) - permission problems - AutoCAD cannot read the contents of this temporary DWG for some reason.

I have revoked all permissions related to file management to make AC request new permissions, and I have reset the program (via AutoCAD 2023>Reset AutoCAD) to no effect.

@tilemanhenry_kuhl When was the last time you restarted your mac?
Which MacOS is this? Did you just upgrade to it recently?

This is the name of the temporary "copyclip" you created, not the content of that file, ther4e is a disconnect between the program and your OS, not sur we end users can help you there

AutoCAD for Mac 2023 was not supported on macOS Sonoma (14.X) until today.

Try to install this 2023.3 Update: and test AutoCAD again.

For AC 2024 you need 2024.1.1 Hotfix to use it on Sonoma.

Hi @tilemanhenry_kuhl, can you try this:

- copy and paste an object in AutoCAD

- If it pastes the path, instead of the object, go to Finder "/tmp" folder, and see if the dwg file exists?

@maxim_k@pendean@wei503, thank you for your advise and time. The culprit has been found: Pure Paste, an app that clears formatting from the clipboard, also interferes with AutoCAD's copy-paste process. Adding AutoCAD to the app's exclusion list solved the issue.
