@maxim_k, @pendean, @wei503, thank you for your advise and time. The culprit has been found: Pure Paste, an app that clears formatting from the clipboard, also interferes with AutoCAD's copy-paste process. Adding AutoCAD to the app's exclusion list solved the issue.
