Scaling width of road model

Hi. I'm pretty new to max and hope this is not a duplicated question but i am very unsure for what i should search.

I have an existing road model but want to increase the width of the road but not it's length. So every part of the road have like 7-times wider but the same length and everything. The road from close up and in complete view looks like this:

Road elements closed upRoad elements closed upComplete road (at most parts there are two roads near too each other)Complete road (at most parts there are two roads near too each other)

Unfortunately, you cant scale its width only because of its irregular condition. If it's just straight then its fine. Better trace it with spline, then add thickness...you will have a better control on it

Rendermaster gave you good advice. Did it make sense? If not i could make a quick video for you.

If the road has a depth, you can select all Vertical polygons and then EXTRUDE (LOCAL NORMALS). See Attachment_1

I would suggest:
1) Draw a spline (do a short, curved segment to test first, before spending time on the entire road you want).

2) Apply a "Sweep" modifier to the spline. You can then parametrically change the width and thickness, as well as have mapping applied for you.
