Hi. I'm pretty new to max and hope this is not a duplicated question but i am very unsure for what i should search.
I have an existing road model but want to increase the width of the road but not it's length. So every part of the road have like 7-times wider but the same length and everything. The road from close up and in complete view looks like this:

Unfortunately, you cant scale its width only because of its irregular condition. If it's just straight then its fine. Better trace it with spline, then add thickness...you will have a better control on it

If the road has a depth, you can select all Vertical polygons and then EXTRUDE (LOCAL NORMALS). See Attachment_1

I would suggest:
1) Draw a spline (do a short, curved segment to test first, before spending time on the entire road you want).
2) Apply a "Sweep" modifier to the spline. You can then parametrically change the width and thickness, as well as have mapping applied for you.
